The Plot

A story of forbidden love and the threat of losing control over and over again. Edward and Bella face some ordinary issues as teenagers; school, family, and their ability to keep their very odd relationship together, though, with Edward being a vampire and all, you find the normal stuff a little difficult to focus in on. Bella and Edward have to learn to live or lose in the world.

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob---knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

We all know what happened in Eclipse, but sometimes, destiny isn't set in stone.

The retreating sun had left the sky in a disheveled mess now as night had fallen long before. The last retreating golden rays of the sun had long disappeared from the slits of the blinds that had once masked the rather large window that over looked the front yard of Charlie's house. Edward found the window a rather convenient thing, especially when he needed to get in and out really quick. It was definitely better than using the door any day of the week, it was how he had gotten into the house on countless occasions. Today was no different, he had snuck into through the window only to find Bella's vacant room awaiting him. She was no doubt downstairs still carrying on the act of talking to Charlie and maybe eating dinner. The only thing left now to do was wait. A sigh ellapsed from between his perfect white lips as he crept into the room which was all shadows now. There was not a speck of light besides the filtered slit of light falling into the room from underneath the doorway. Edward seemed a little distracted as Bella's familiar scent stung his nostrils, the room was full of her. At one point it had bothered him earlier on to be her for her scent had been so strong, but now he had conquered that and he could stand here willingly and sniff at it all he desired. It was such a fulfilling scent, a good one, through and through. He could only hope that it would not vanish even after Bella got her wish. The thought struck him momentarily as it always did and it brought a frown to his face, sure she would not be fragile by than, but it always did worry him. He did not want her to end up like him -- soulless that was. No matter what she believed he was sure that there was nothing after this life, perhaps maybe he really was damned.

His golden eyes flitted about the room, and he was restless once more, yet somehow he was patient. Decades of having lived taught him to be patient now, and so with that instinct in mind he made his way towards Bella's bed. Gently he laid his lanky marble frame across the bed, the springs did not even protest against his weight anymore for he knew the framework of the bed. Edward was quiet, silent as always as he shifted his weight noiselessly onto the bed. He finally rested his head against the pillow, his brown hair puffing out at an odd angle in protest against the feathery surface that he was now perched against. He leaned back into the pillow pressing his noise against it sniffing at the sweet smell of her hair. He smiled lightly, this was something that he always loved about waiting for her he got to sit up here and inhale the enticing smell that she carried with her. It was almost as good as having her in his arms or even kissing her, or listening to the way that her heartbeat. The noise was still clear to him even now even though she was downstairs somewhere alongside Charlie -- he could distinguish her heartbeat from that of anyone else's. His golden eyes stared longingly for a moment towards the doorway as if he was expecting for her to come up. But not yet he knew, he would know soon enough, as soon as Charlie's thoughts begun to focus more on the football game and less on his daughter. They were still talking about something or other and Edward let his thoughts wander for that split second. Soon, she would be here soon.

Patience of course was one of those tiring gestures that he had only come to appreciate with time. It was annoying, an irksome thing that he had had to deal with through the last century. It was something that Carlisle possessed an abundance of, if only he could be that patient. Lounging against the bed, Edward flipped himself noiselessly onto his back and stared at the blank ceiling overhead. The room was so plain yet he could still spot Bella's personality in some portions of it. In the corners where the stakes of messy clothes were piled up, or even on the old quilt that was thrown across the bed. Of course she had added a few personal effects here and there between the old dusty computer and some of the shelves hidden in the closest but overall the room did not really scream Bella. The only thing that was utterly strong in it was the scent, her scent, which was always refreshingly fresh within his nostrils and close within his reach. Another smile stretched across his features as he heard Charlie's thoughts, he knew that Bella was on her way. The foosteps downstairs grew louder and he forced him to remain idle and lounging. Of course he could not let off that he had lost his patience waiting for her -- no that was far to rude for the likes of him. His golden eyes did though remain eagerly plastered on the door willing it to open at any moment. He could already see her walking through the door, her flowing brown hair following her gently in her wake. He closed his eyes a moment and waited for the creak of the door to sound, like an annoncing gunshot signaling her arrival.

"Alright Dad, I'm going to bed, goodnight." Bella called to her father as she walked up the steps. She opened her beroom door and flicked on a light, not expecting Edward to be there quite yet. She jumped, startled, but smiled at him. "I just need a few human moments" she said softly, gathering her pajamas and heading to the bathroom quickly. She turned on the warm water and stripped off her clothes. She got in the shower, washed, lathered her hair, shaved, and rinsed. She stepped back out, dried off, dried her hair and brushed in into a loose ponytail and then brished her teeth. When she was finaly done, and it took less than 10 minutes, she got dressed and headed back to her room to the awaiting Edward.

Bella stepped into her room and shut her door. "You're here earlier than normal" she voiced, smiling at him widely and sitting on the bed next to him. Not that she minded, she loved spending as much time with Edward as possible, and she only wished she could start spending eternity with him. She decided against bringing that up right now, wanting only to have a nice peaceful conversation with him. She leaned against his cold arm and yanwed slightly. "How was your day?" she asked, looking up into his beautiful golden eyes that always seemed to dazzle her and make her dizzy. Her breath caught and she had to remind herself that she needed air to live.

The creaking of the door was enough to force Edward to flick his eyes open, he looked longingly towards the door as Bella stepped into the room. He grinned watching her flit around the room quickly after suddenly getting over surprise at seeing him in her room. He had not been expecting to startle her, he could have sworn that he was expected tonight, perhaps he was not after all. Maybe he should get around to asking Alice about Bella more often, he stored the thoughts away from more contemplation later on the topic. "I'm sorry if I startled you." Edward apologised in a rather sincere voice.

"I just need a few human moments"

He nodded slightly, he understood, he had been through it once, even if it all had occurred centuries before. He watched as Bella skipped around the room gathering items and than briskly running through the door closing it behind her. He sighed a little bit, more waiting, but he could deal with it, he knew he could. He had spent a little over a century waiting for her to come into existence up until this point, of course he could wait another half hour while she took a shower. Besides, he thought to himself, she'll smell better when she comes back. Although the thought was not as comforting as it could have been because he did want to spend just about every waking moment with her whether she smelled good or not. He leaned back into the pillow again, awaiting her arrival from the bathroom down the hall. He could hear her bustling around in it, although she did not make much noise to begin with - his ears were just sharp.

    "You're here earlier than normal"

She was back sooner than he expected, his sharp ears had caught her noisy footsteps down the hallway. He looked up his golden eyes catching her every moment as she had paused to put her things away and such. She was sitting next to him soon enough and leaning her warm arm against his cold skin. The temperature difference was notable to him even though he probably should not have noticed it in any other case. He almost felt bad for the way he was frozen underneath her touch, like it should not be something that he should allow her to feel. She was smiling down at him and he fought the urge to capture her around the waist and pull her onto the bed with him. He returned her smile with a crooked one of his own, it touched his golden eyes as he peered in her direction. "Does it bother you?" He asked referring to his early arrival, he could not help himself when it came to matters like these of course. "I can begin coming later if you prefer." Edward added, his voice thoughtful as his golden eyes smouldered in Bella's direction.

    "How was your day?"

He could hear the instinctive increase of her heartbeat as she peered into his eyes, remember to breath, he mentally chidded her - although he was sure it was nothing she could hear. "Incredible." Edward replied as he swooped forward and placed a cold kiss on her bare shoulder. His graceful motions did not even force a single creak out of the bed. "Are you all right, love?" Edward asked, although little worry plagued his voice, he was inquiring about the slight increase in her heart rate. He had picked up on the trend before though, it always seemed to flutter whenever he was nearby, he could not help but smile lightly at the indication of her love for him where it was concerned.

"Oh, no! Of course not Edward!" Bella replied hastily. "I love it when I get to spend more time with you. Please, you don't have to come later" she insisted, her eyes showing slight panic that she may have offended him. She bit her lower lip and turned a little, wrapping her arms around him to pull herself closer to his cool body. She knew she was being a little hysterical, but she didn't want to make it seem as if she didn't want Edward to come. In fact, she would rather he came earlier than normal, it meant more time with him before she went to bed. 'Stupid human moments. If only I were a vampire now, then I could stay up with Edward all night' she thought with a soft sigh.

"That's good" she said and jumped slightly as he kissed her shoulder. A shudder ran down her spine as his cool lips connected with her warm skin, and the sensation had her heart fluttering even faster. That had been an unexpected treat, and she closed her eyes as she blushed a little and looked at him when he asked if she was alright. "Yea...I'm fine" she said. She knew her heart probably shouldn't race so fast that often, but everytime she was with him, he never failed to dazzle her and have her heart racing so fast it made her dizzy. "I love you Edward" she said, hugging him and breathing in his scent. She knew Edward loved the scent of her, of her blood, but she had to say, he nice smell that she adored as well.

He wondered if he was now starting to arrive to early, he could not help himself, he really did like rushing over to Bella's after lounging around for a few hours at home - for there was nothing better for him to do. Edward paused, his golden eyes were thoughtful as he examined Bella's reaction to his earlier words. She seemed displeased with them, perhaps she truly did like ti when he came here, even if he was early. He had wondered what she thought of him, coming to her house every night and spending the night with her on a daily basis. He had never minded it much, in fact it was one of the best parts of the day, at least he thought so. He could get a better look into her mind when she was sleeping because her tongue acquired a rather loose quality to it. He smiled that same crooked smile as she all to eager to protest against the thought that he would even be unwelcome to come early to her house.

"Oh, no! Of course not Edward!"

Her quick response to his remark made him smile a bit broader. It was good to know that his feelings could be returned in such a way as this, it was something that he had never known before. Despite his lack of practice with these feelings they felt good all the same, almost refreshing in a strange sort of way. It was a welcome change after spending over a century alone in the world, finally he had someone that he could fall back onto. He was nearly surprised when she continued to explain in an almost rambling manner why it was a good thing that he had come earlier today. Oh if only he could read her mind, that would be an interesting place in itself. He longed for that ability, but more than anything he longed for her to remain as she was - human. He knew that he would not get his wish though for her mind was set, the thoughts always made him wary but he would follow what she wanted, that was as long as she met his own terms of use of course. She would have to endure a semester of college if he could get lucky -- if not just a few months of college, of course he could pay for the whole thing. He did have a rather large sum of money underneath his name now, Alice was rather useful when it came to her stock-market predicting abilities. Perhaps even before than they would be married, at least in his mind that was how things were supposed to go, but than again he was still so old-fashioned in his ways of thinking.

"I love it when I get to spend more time with you. Please, you don't have to come later"

"Since you make a rather convincing argument I have no choice but to honor your requests." Edward teased her lightly as he long pale fingers begun to twist themselves through her silky brown hair. Next thing he knew she had all but flopped over onto him for he was still stretched out across the bed. Her warm arms encircled him and he hoped that he was now making her cold - for he could not help it. His cold fingers now moved from the warmth of her hair and took a place tracing a few thin lines down her spine to the small of her back. She was definitely something he desired, just right now the question was how much longer were they both able to hold out and wait for it? He stroked her back absent-mindedly as his golden eyes studied the places where panic had struck moments before. He wondered sometimes if she was ever intimidated by the polite air that he always cared, she seemed to be sensitive about it whenever she thought that she was being rude. It was something that he had noticed after spending so many days with her. He felt remotely bad that he was not able to change his nature in this sense, but it was practically inbred into his blood -- err, well not really blood, body more like it. After spending so many years with Carlisle it was hard not to be so accomadating when it came to others.

    "That's good"

Her words brought him back to reality, he just nodded slightly, no stranger to her surprise reflexes underneath the chillness of his own touch. He always felt just a little bit guilty for it, if only because she happened to be so warm all of the time. There was that and the small factor that he knew he felt like he was made of some sort of marble stone half the time. She probably thought that he spent half his time crystalized in a block of ice, Edward mused as continued to stroke her back.

    "Yea...I'm fine"

"Your heart was racing." Edward informed her gently as he watched the blush spread over her cheeks. He gave her a loving smile as he gently race two fingers across the side of her cheek trying to produce a stronger blush out of her. He absolutely loved it when she blushed -- more than anything really. It was something that he always looked forward too, which was why he took any opportunity he could have to coax it out of her. Next thing he knew she was squeezing him again, in this case it was fine because he was not as fragile nor as breakable as she happened to be. He allowed his arm that had been draped loosely over her to tighten ever so slightly around her. He was always scared that his strength would get the best of him someday and than he knew things would only go down hill from there. The thought nearly made him grimace, but instead he tried to focus on what he was doing. It was always important for him to focus, even when he was not thirsty he just needed to be careful around her -- all the time.

    "I love you Edward"

"I love you too." At these words Edward moved forward to capture her lips, still not done for the night, he wanted to see if he could at least get one more blush out of her. That was always something that proved refreshingly to him, although she did often blush in her sleep, if he laid close enough to her throughout the night.

Bella watched his eyes, unable to look away, and smiled back when he smiled her favorite smile at her. She smiled softly at hsis words but the blush she had already had deepened in color. She didn't mind Edward playing with her hair, but was happy to be lying next to him. She shivered slightly as he ran his hands down her back, but it wasn't from being cold, and she hoped Edward wouldn't pull away thinking that it was. "Oh...well, I'm fine" she said biting her lip. Of course what Edward did made her blush even stronger as she leaned into his touch. She couldn't help herself and she really wished she could keep herself from the awful habit.

As soon as his lips touched hers, her eyes closed, and her arms snaked up his chest and wrapped around his neck, trying to pull him closer to her. She knew from experiance that this wouldn't last long, but she liked trying anyways. The fading blush from her cheeks was returning as she held her breath, keeping the kiss going as long as she could, hoping Edward wouldn't pull away saying he wasn't that good with his control.
