Alice Cullen

Rosalie Hale
The Plot

A story of forbidden love and the threat of losing control over and over again. Edward and Bella face some ordinary issues as teenagers; school, family, and their ability to keep their very odd relationship together, though, with Edward being a vampire and all, you find the normal stuff a little difficult to focus in on. Bella and Edward have to learn to live or lose in the world.

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob---knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

We all know what happened in Eclipse, but sometimes, destiny isn't set in stone.

The sun had contented itself hours ago with disappearing behind the thick cloud cover, Edward seemed uninterested in it all now, it was merely another lazy evening in which he had nothing to do. He had finished all his homework hours ago when he was still in school, it was something that was only becoming a slight annoyance now. After having gone through high school more than once even the smallest paper of homework proved irksome if only for the dire repetition of it all. He found no comfort in passing the decades anymore, for it seemed that things remained the same in the educational system -- always just a little to old-fashioned for his tastes in that area. His golden eyes were focused now as he had flopped himself across the sofa about an hour before, bored out of his mind as usual. Most likely he would have been upstairs listening to another round of albums from his collection, or perhaps even downstairs in the front room strumming off another round of seranades on the paino. But today -- today just felt utterly hopeless. He was trying to focus, but somehow it was not really coming to him, the thoughts of his nearby family kept on floating into his open mind. That whole hushed room affect was quickly becoming harder and harder to achieve as he realized that he no longer wanted to focus on anything anymore. He would be able to go back to Bella soon, she was over at Jacobs, but he couldn't help but feel restless about the whole thing. He knew that he could not keep her from the things that she wanted, but all the same he was still increasingly nervous about it. What if she begun to chose differently? What if she no longer wanted him? Of course the thoughts were foolish, but they always happened to plague his mind whenever he let his guard down. There were just too many hours in a day now it seemed as he was beginning to look at it more from Bella's perspective. It was strange how things were beginning to seem so much more human now. Those instincts that had faded were coming back with a vegenance and at once he felt restless again. But how was it even possible to feel restless when one did not need to sleep? Edward was preplexed by the thought as he allowed his feet to dangle over the white arm of the sofa. He was spread out lengthwise across the piece of furniture in a rather juvenile position, he was sure that Esme would not have appreciated it, but at the moment he was trying to surround himself with distractions. At least his feet weren't on the chair, yes that was probably what it made okay. In fact he did not even seem to notice the current position that his body had taken, it was an unconscious gesture, one that he had collapsed into during a moment of great thought.

Edward ran a hand through his coppery brown hair, the cool touch of his skin no longer bothered him as it once had. That ballroom affect of the voices seemed to boom a bit louder in his ears now as he lost the things that he had been thinking about -- letting them swirl in with the other voices neatly. It was like some sort of soupy whirlpool that was determined to keep him off the track that he had proposed to go on. It was not unlike the distraction was welcome, but it took the time away from the things that he thought he was supposed to be thinking about. The things that mattered. His mind was practically swimming now alight with a million problems and none of those were his to lay claim to. Most of them were as simple as a few choices and barely one or two options, but indecision still seemed to plague those nameless minds and faces. His golden eyes grew hazy in thought as he stared up at the blank white ceiling, the whole place was really spotless. There was not a doubt in his mind that Esme had done a rather good job with remodeling this house - especially after having observed the condition in which it had come when they had first purchased it. There had been so much work to do, but they had gotten it all done in no time, perhaps it was something to be attributed to their ungodly speed. That was it. Things had always moved so fast for him. Time was not of the essence. Time was illegimate, something that mattered little, for he had so much of it. Perhaps that was what was really slowing him down, there was only the promise of such short time for she was only just human, but he was not willing to change that. His thoughts were jumbled whereas they were usually straightforward and organized, only the thoughts of her could accomplish such a flustered affect inside his mind. Edward laughed out loud a little at these thoughts, only the thoughts of her, of Bella, could accomplish such a thing. Maybe her scent really had succeeded in driving him crazy he thought with a humorless sigh as his stoic eyes roved over the seamless white ceilings.

Of course he was helping no one by just sitting around and mopping, but he had not much else to do. He was already fulfilling his requirements as a high school student - he finished the homework that he needed to do - he no longer needed to study for those stupid tests. And well, the only other thing that he would have done would have been to be with Bella, but currently she was attending to other matters. She would be back soon, he promised himself, he knew she would come back soon.

Maybe it was the cloud covered sky, or maybe it was just the fact that Alice had spent a good two hours in her room. She had told everyone of her family members, including Jasper that she was working on a large amount of homework. Which, in a sense had been true. The palindrome feeling of all the work that was done and set on a nearby desk was making Alice feel a little down, she began to wonder if she was doomed to fill out the same worksheets over and over again for the rest of eternity, only one could handle so much. The sky to her was beautiful and she longed to be outside, doing something other than lounging around her spacious room. Alice twirled a spike of dark hair around her finger, deep in thought. The large house was quiet, not that she expected much else with a house full of vampires, but she was at least expecting Jasper to come and bother her once more, when no one had come to her door for at least thirty-five minutes now. Her golden eyes darted around the room before something flashed just behind them, seen only to herself. Her eyes slid from the focus of her room to the image playing like a movie reel in her mind. Edward was seated, well, more sprawled out in the large room that they thoughtfully spoke as the 'living' room. His long and slender body was lying horizontally across the white couch of Esme's. He seemed anxious, and something about the way Edward's eyes darted gently from side to side told Alice that he was thinking very deeply about something. Coming up from the vision, her eyes instantly went back into focus, the wall and window in front of her slid from being two back to one.

Alice slid from her seating position and moved towards her door. Though she didn't want to bother Edward, not if he was set on being alone, though nothing in her vision had told her that he wasn't keen on not having company. Sweeping the length of the room quickly but gracefully, her long, pale, slender fingers turned the knob and she let herself out of her room. Moving over the landing and down the steps with almost lighting speed, she slowed it up just a bit as she reached the first floor, not wanting to alarm Edward in any way, but if he had been paying attention, he probably knew what she was doing anyways. Pressing her hands inside her dark jeans, her brilliant white teeth caught her lower lip gently as she danced into the room softly. Her eyes darted to the vampire on the couch. Clearly the vision was more near future than she had imagined. Her short shadow slightly passed over him as she slipped past the large window and came to halt a few paces away from Edward. He had not gazed upwards at her and she decided to cross by him and take a seat in the chair right beside the soft white lure of the couch. Her eyes gazed around the almost empty room before falling back onto her brother. Don't tell me... Alice's voice was gentle but full of the younger inquiring sister vibe. Her eyes widened lightly and they danced over Edward's features. Her full lips pursed into a slight smile before opening her mouth once more. Bella...

The look on Edward's face were almost as transparent as the future to her on occasion, and the way her brother was gazing around, obviously his mind full with thought, it was most certainly about the girl that more or less depended on Edward's well being, sanity, and time left on this earth. From the fact that Edward was here and not over at Bella's and the way that sour act he was having, Alice figured she knew what was going on, even a little bit. She scrunched up her nose delicately, her eyes sliding out of focus, her mind turning to the brunette human and when she couldn't get even the slightest read on her, Alice's thoughts were confirmed. The girl was with the hound.

A new sharp fresh set of thoughts came pooling into the room, but Edward did not look up for he already knew who it was. Her thoughts always betrayed her, he had heard his name spoken in her thoughts long before she had actually made it down the stairs. He did watch for that sort of thing so he did not have to worry about anyone catching him off guard. His golden eyes remained in a guarded manner staring dully at the ceiling, he already knew that Alice knew what was wrong. It was hard for them to have a conversation that was not very .... well predictable. What with her telling the future and than him reading her mind the moment that she had made such discoveries it was hard to keep anything a surprise. He laughed a little bitterly at the thought, of course he would not have it any other way. Most of the time it drove him crazy when he could not read Bella's mind, instead he had settled for reading her facial expressions - which sometimes nearly had the same face value - but only when they exhibited a painful amount of information. Edward look at the ceiling, a bit of dreamy distance drawn in his golden eyes, he was waiting for her to speak. He could hear her clearly now and he knew that they were in the same room. Speaking was almost unnecessary considering their situation, she could probably predict what he would say and then he could easily read it in her mind -- but it had not become entirely obsolete because it was only the future if it really happened in the first place. And than there was the small factor that Alice did occasionally get upset when he was reading her thoughts when she wanted to keep something from him -- he didn't blame her, it probably would've bothered him too if she were in his situation. But it was just something that he could not take not to know, especially when it had something to do with him or Bella directly. A sigh would've ellapsed again from his perfect snow white lips, but he refused to let it drag - to let it pollute the silent airwaves.

    'Don't tell me...'

He could feel her gaze on him now, and he did not even have to look up to know that her golden eyes had rested on him. She no doubt could already foresee his troubles, so what was the point in telling her? Well, for the sake of being polite and for the sake of common conversation of course? Sure. That was what he told himself, it just another excuse to pass the time, although he did believe that Alice in a way did understand his pain. Surely she hated being blind just as much as he hated waiting around for Bella to call -- signaling she wanted to get away from that dog. He would've shuddered had his sister not been in the room, he truly did not feel the need for dramatics now, no he was far beyond that field now.

    'Bella...'

Despite her gentle tones Edward could hear Alice clearly, almost as if she were talking to him in a remotely normal tone fairly close by. It was his senses now that had taken hold of his ears defining the slightest noise as an eruption -- almost equivalent to the sound of a very large bang. Perhaps that was a pin drop would sound like right now if Edward bothered to pay much attention to it. Edward finally nodded sullenly at the ceiling without taking his guarded golden eyes off the spot that he had been staring at. "She left a few hours ago." He confirmed, his tone reluctant at the thought that she might not still be breathing. She did have a tendency to get into trouble, a real danger magnet. He tried to mask the worry that he was now feeling, his eyes would not betray him he hoped, maybe his posture would though. He tended to stretch himself out or even pace around when he was nervous or worried. Edward had a feeling that Alice already knew of his qualms, surely she shared them too. Werewolves were so unpredictable and that was really the problem now. Despite the fact that Edward could still read Jacob's mind he still worried about Bella when she was with him. There was no telling what she as exposing herself to when she went out to La Push, even if she did claim that the werewolves would protect her.
